Fabrication of Nanostructured Tio2 Surfaces for Photocatalytic Applications
This paper presents titanium dioxide nanostructured surfaces prepared in organic electrolytes containing ammonium fluoride by anodic oxidation method. Two approaches were used for fabrication, one-step and two-step anodization. The obtained TiO2 surfaces have nanoporous structure. The morphology of anodized TiO2 nanostructures was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
متن کاملPhotocatalytic inactivation of Cryptosporidium parvum on nanostructured titanium dioxide films.
Control of waterborne gastrointestinal parasites represents a major concern to water industries worldwide. In developed countries, pathogens in drinking water supplies are normally removed by sand filtration followed by chemical disinfection. Cryptosporidium spp. are generally resistant to common disinfection techniques and alternative control strategies are being sought. In the current study, ...

Disinfection of drinking water is commonly carried out by chlorination, however research has shown this method to be ineffective against certain rotozoan, viral and biofilm forming microorganisms. Furthermore, chlorination can result in the formation of mutagenic disinfection by-products. emiconductor photocatalysis may be a possible alternative to chlorination for point-of-use drinking water d...
متن کاملEnhanced Photocatalytic Hydrogen Production on TiO2 by Using Carbon Materials
The effect of carbon materials on TiO2 for the photocatalytic hydrogen gas production from water / alcohol mixtures was investigated. Single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs), multi walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs), carbon nanofiber (CNF), fullerene (FLN), graphite (GP), and graphite silica (GS) were used as co-catalysts by directly mixing with TiO2. Drastic synergy effects were found with increas...
متن کاملTiO2-graphene oxide nanocomposite as advanced photocatalytic materials
BACKGROUND Graphene oxide composites with photocatalysts may exhibit better properties than pure photocatalysts via improvement of their textural and electronic properties. RESULTS TiO2-Graphene Oxide (TiO2 - GO) nanocomposite was prepared by thermal hydrolysis of suspension with graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets and titania peroxo-complex. The characterization of graphene oxide nanosheets was p...
